Where on Earth have I been?

Ta Da! I'm back online.

Here's the long and short of why I haven't updated this journal is forever: I didn't have online access at home. I used to update my journal at work, but I haven't had time to do that with Summer Orientation kicking me around every day all day. So, all computer woes taken care of: My Dad donated his old computer to my apartment's sad lack of computerness (sadly CallMeRingo's computer suffered this summer), and my laptop was fixed! Lots more money than I wanted to spend, and I'm back online and back to typing my writing instead of handwriting it. Two things: Can't figure out the whole sound issue - I know this computer has an intergrated sound card, and in my Dad's hands this baby was loud, but that aside, I got it up and running in less than 40 minutes. God Damn I'm good.

In other news: Oh my what a summer it has been. In four days I leave for London on my first ever international adventure. Four days from now is also my 26th birthday, which means I'm celebrating in style with a weekend in London. The trip is going to cost me more money than I have to spend, I'm sure, but since I've waited most of my adult life to be able to take a trip like this one, I'm very much looking forward to it. I'm headed out alone: I got tired of waiting for someone to ask me to go with them, or for any of my friends to have the time or money at the same time I do. So I'm off to explore the capital of the world on my own. I'm nervous, but, more than anything I'm looking forward to it. London has some of the best bookstores in the world, and I plan to see as many of them as I can.

There are all kinds of subjects I'd like to get to: I saw Farienheit 9/11 several weeks ago and wanted to write about that, but I think I'll save that for my special political edition: "Why Bush and Kerry are both Stupid Bastards! and other topics," which should come out sometime later. I'm not sure when. I'll let you know.

Writing is not going as quickly or as smoothly as I planned this summer. The lack of computerness just about did in my plans for a fourth draft of my novel. And forget all the other project I've got going. Well, I've got some promising scenes for various projects written in longhand, but Jesus, I don't think I did anything worth saving. But, as yesterday I had no computer to work on, and today I have two, I think I'm headed in the right direction. Also, I've done some research on the young adult novel I'm writing, and I think I've got some things figured out. So there you go.

Okay, I'm off to explore the internet in all it's virus, spyware infested glory.
